    SAINT ELIZABETH REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER FOOD & NUTRITION SERVICES POLICY & PROCEDURE MANUAL SUBJECT: Department Specific Disaster Plan EFFECTIVE DATE: 11/06 PPM: III. VII. A. 1. SUPERSEDES: 2/99 PAGE 1 of 6 REVISION DATE: 11/09 If any emergency takes place at the Medical Center or in the community, it will effect the Department in one of the three major ways: 1. An external emergency/disaster, in which the Medical Center is not directly involved, the associates may be used to help with disaster victims admitted to the facility; feeding extra patients, families and associates. Equipment and associates will essentially be available on an emergency basis. 2. A disaster which disrupts staffing availability and the equipment operation. 3. An emergency which disrupts staffing availability. POLICY: The Food and Nutrition Services Department will work closely with all other Departments within the Medical Center to provide: a) Help as needed as defined in the Disaster Plan of the Medical Center. b) Patient meal service during the disaster. c) Meals to associates. d) Meals to visitors. PROCEDURE: 1. The line of authority within the Department will be: a) Food & Nutrition Services Director b) Coordinator, Food & Nutrition Services c) Coordinator, Retail Services d) Clinical Nutrition Manager e) Clinical Dietitians f) Designated Leads and/or Weekend Lead The person with the highest authority will be in charge of the Department until either a person with higher authority within the Department is present or until a relief person is designated in charge. 2. The person in charge will perform the following: a) Judge the situation and staff accordingly b) Designate associates to report to work areas
