Speech community 【答案】 Speech community is a group of people who share a set of norms and expectations regarding the use of language. Speech communities can be members of a profession with a specialized jargon, distinct social groups like high school students or hip-pop fans. In addition, online and other mediated communities, such as many internet forums, often constitute speech communities. Members of speech communities will often develop slang or jargon to serve the group's special purposes and priorities. 4? Conceptualism 【答案】 It is the view which holds that there is no direct link between a linguistic form and what it refers to; rather, in the interpretation of meaning they are linked through the mediation of concepts in the mind. 5? Back-formation 【答案】 Back formation refers to an abnormal type of word formation where a shorter word is derived by deleting an imagined affix from a longer form already in the language. Audiolingual method 【答案】 Audiolingual method refers to the teaching of a second language through imitation, repetition, and reinforcement. IPA 【答案】 IPA is the abbreviation of International Phonetic Alphabet, which is devised by the International Phonetic Association in 1888.
