2025 年托福听力强化训练试卷:核心笔记方法及高频词汇押题 考试时间:______分钟 总分:______分 姓名:______ 模拟听力试题(讲座部分) 第一部分 Professor Smith is discussing environmental science. She's focusing on how human activities affect local ecosystems. "Many people think that pollution is only about big factories or industrial waste," she says, "but sometimes the most serious damage comes from much smaller sources. Take, for example, the issue of nutrient runoff from agricultural land. Farmers often use fertilizers to increase crop yields, which is good for food production. However, when it rains heavily, these fertilizers, containing nitrogen and phosphorus, get washed into nearby rivers and lakes. This process is called eutrophication." Professor Smith continues, "In a healthy lake, the amount of nutrients is balanced, and the ecosystem remains stable. But when too many nutrients enter the water, algae start to grow rapidly. This isn't just an aesthetic problem; it can be dangerous. As the algae die and decompose, the bacteria that break them down consume a lot of oxygen in the water. This creates areas called 'dead zones,' where fish and other aquatic animals cannot survive." She adds, "The consequences can be severe for the entire ecosystem. Fish populations decline, affecting both commercial fishing and the food chain. Furthermore, excessive algae growth can block sunlight from reaching deeper parts of the lake, harming plants living there. It can also produce toxins harmful to wildlife and even humans if the water is used for drinking or recreation. So, while fertilizers are essential for agriculture, it's crucial to manage their use carefully to prevent significant environmental damage."
