    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS The development of this Operation and Maintenance Manual involved a series of activities and active participation of Officers through the P-WASHE O&M Task Team. The P- WASHE wishes to most sincerely thank the Task Team for their hard work and commitment shown in the whole process of developing this manual. Appreciation is also extended to the 1999 O&M Core Team that developed the old manual that formed the base for the development of this new manual. The P- WASHE further extends its gratitude to Ireland Aid - Northern Province Development Programme (NPDP) for the great support rendered in the development of the manual through its technical and financial assistance. Worth mentioning and thanking are the two communities visited in Nakonde for reserving sometime from their busy schedules for the Task Team to meet them and discuss their experiences in operation and maintenance. Other thanks go to Nakonde D-WASHE for facilitating the Task Team’s visits to 2 villages and for affording the Task Team an opportunity to meet them. Many thanks go to the Facilitator Mr Joseph Kachiliko for his guidance and patience during facilitation of the workshop that ended with the development of this manual.
