I argue that legislation and transparent technical standards must develop alongside innovation. Universities should also teach students not only how to build AI but how to think about its social consequences. Technology without ethics is a tool without a compass. A middle path may work better: keep reasonable fees but expand scholarships and loans for low-income students, and invest public money in key disciplines that serve national development.
