Technical Field[0001] The present invention relates to an aboveground swimming pool, and more particularly, toa swim-ming pool havinga water impermeable liner, at least anupstanding panel surrounding the liner, and an im-proved coping structure with upstanding posts. Background Art[0002] Present day above ground pools generallyhave posts and coping.structures supportinga singleendless panel. However, most such structures rely onnuts and bolts to connect the many posts and copingelements together. On a large pool that is, an obroundpool in the order of 40 feet (1 foot = 30,48 cm), thenumber of posts and coping sections is considerable, and asa result, the numberof nuts and bolts that mustbe utilized is considerable. The labor required for erect-ing sucha pool is, therefore, substantial.[0003] Since the posts and coping elements mustform an enclosed loop, the elements forming it must beproduced with precision. There can be very little toler-ances when erectinga structure that might measureover 100 feet in terms ofthe loop being formed.[0004] Examples are illustrated in U. S. In particular, WO-A-91/09192 disclosesamoulded plastics frameworkforan above-ground swim-ming pool. The framework includes an endless basemember, posts and an endless coping. Both the basemember andthe coping are made-up ofa respectiveplurality of inter-connecting moulded modules. Thebase member includes post sockets formed therein, each post socket beingfor receivinga respective one ofthe posts. Tops ofthe postsarefor receiving the coping.Screw fasteners are used to secure the posts to thebase memberandto securethe coping tothe posts.[0005] Each one of thèse pools shows the necessityof precision in the fabrication of the posts and copingsections or upper rails and lower rails. Even assumingrelatively low tolerances in the fabrication of swimmingpool components, imprecise connections will still occuroverthe overall installation of the pool wall because ofthe accumulation ofthe tolerances over the relativelylarge dimensions ofthe loop being formed. Thèse prob-lems will occur atthe installation phase in the field andmust be overcome by sometimes damaging the lastcomponents being connected in order to get the partstO fit.[0006] Another disadvantage that has been foundwith conventional above ground pool kits, as represent-ed by the above patents, isthe numberof fasteners thatmust be manipulated in the field in order to erect thepool. Such manipulation of fasteners, such as nuts and10203040502Disclosure ofthe Invention[0007] It is an aim of the present invention to providean improved above ground pool construction that willovercome the problems mentioned above.[0008] It isa further aim of the present invention toprovide an above ground pool wherein the various ele-ments, such asthe upper rails or coping elements, canbe telescoped one withthe other in orderto compensateforany imperfections.[0009] It is stilla further aim of the present inventionto provide an above ground pool with elements, such asf5posts and coping components, that are molded of resinmaterial especially by blow-molding. Since it is practi-cally impossible to blow-mold such elements with smalldimensional tolerances, it would notbe possible to pro-ducea practical, large, above ground swimming poolmade of blow-molded components without allowing forsome degree of adjustment such as having these com-ponents telescopically adjustable.[0010] It isa further aim of the present invention toprovidea special, simple, one-piece fastener that can25be utilized withthe componentsofthe present inventionand thus eliminatethe necessityof usinga large numberof nuts and bolts.[0011] According to the present invention, there isprovideda kit for an above ground pool comprising:a pool panel;a pool finer;a plurality of posts, each post molded in one piecefrom resin material and havinga base portion and35a top portion, each top portion includinga substan-tially planar shoulder portion and a coping seat el-evated relative toa respective shoulder portion;a plurality of one-piece coping elements, each cop-ing element includinga female coupling memberanda male coupling member, each male couplingmember includinga U-shaped slot which telescop-ingly engagesa respective neighbouring femalecoupling member, anda one-piece fastener for fasteninga respective fe-45male coupling member toa respective male cou-pling member andtoa respective coping seat toforma joint, each joint includes portions ofthe re-spective male coupling member defining the U-shaped slot disposed within the respective femalecoupling memberanda respective coping seat.[0012] The kit is advantageous in thatthe coping ele-ments support said pool panel and said pool liner whilesubstantially compensatingfor tolerances and substan-55tially reducinga numberof parts neededto support saidpool panel and liner.[0013] Ina more specific embodiment ofthe presentinvention, the fastener member isa one-piece member
