Terminology3.1 Def i nitions—General def i nitions are in accordance withTerminology D8270 unless otherwise indicated.3.2 Def i nitions of Terms Specif i c to This Standard:3.2.1 controlled document, n—a document that providesvalue to operational integrity and product quality and isidentif i ed as subject to the operation’s document controlpractices.3.2.1.1 Discussion—Controlled documents include dynamicdocuments such as policies, procedures, responsibilities, jobqualif i cations, specif i cations, work instructions, and masterbatch records; static documents (records) that are permanentrecords of what has occurred in the past; and external docu-ments such as standards, regulations, equipment manuals,licenses and permits, supplier contracts, and material safetydata sheets.3.2.2 practice, n—a def i nitive set of instructions for per-forming one or more specif i c operations that do not produce atest result.3.2.3 practice, v—performing daily operational activitiesthat include documented and undocumented actions.3.2.4 qualif i ed individual, n—an individual who meets ap-plicable skill, experience, education, or other requirements ofan employment position that they hold or seek and can performthe job’s essential functions with or without reasonable accom-modation.3.2.5 standard operating procedure (SOP), n—establishedor prescribed methods to be followed routinely to performdesignated operations and respond to def i ned situations.1 This guide is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D37 on Cannabis andHemp and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee D37.02 on QualityManagement Systems.Current edition approved June 1, 2026.
