In order to make the mechanism move steadily,the drive guide is proposed.After using the dynamics simulation software ADAMS to analyze the3D model, this kind of mechanism is confirmed to be able to implement dimensional track.The useful method and basis would be provided for the optimization design of the mechanism. Key words: spatial rack; drive guide; dynamic simulation CLC number: TH132 Document code: A Article ID: 1005-9113(2007) 02-0166-04 In the reality society, some transmission system need to implement the long distance continuous curve movement. such as the stairlift, but this kind of mechanism with the characteristic is very few . For the gear characteristics(transmission steady, precise velocity ratio. high eficiency), a new mechanism ot drum shaped gear with ring-involute teeth is proposed and designed. which make the gear mesh “the spatial rack”and implement the curve movement. The research of drumshaped gear with ring-involute teeth will solve this kind of transmission problem. 1 Transmission Structure Design 1.1 Composition and Principle The drum-shaped gear tooth is formed by the rotation of the involute tooth profile around its axis . The teeth are distributed over the drum-shaped body cireumference outside surface, which form the spatial drum-shaped gear with ring-involute teeth (as shown in Fig. 1). This kind of gear transmission is similar to the general gear meshing. The spatial rack meshing with the drum-shaped gear is installed on the guide rail. Some concave teeth are distributed over the spatial rack. The shape of the concave tooth is cone or involute. Therefore , the gear mechanism has many merits of involute gear ,more importantly it can carry out the spatial curve movement by the drive guide. The drum-shaped gear mechanism is shown in Fig. 2. The mechanism is composed of drum-shaped gear 1, spatial rack 3 with which the drum-shaped gear mesh, drive guide 4, and rail 5.
