Documentation lies at the heart of all international trade transactions. Most international trade is done on the basis of delivery against documents and payment against documents. UCP600 provides that ''Banks deal with documents and not with goods s, services or performance to which the document may relate. UCP600 国际商会在 1 933 年颁布了第一个跟单信用证的惯例， 定名为《商业跟单信用证统一惯例》 (Uniform Customs and Practice for Commercial Documentary Credits)。 其后， 随着国际贸易的发展， 国际商会先后于 1951 年、 1 962 年、 1974 年、 1 983 年、 1993 年和 2006年对惯例进行了多次修订。 最新的出版物是于 2006 年 10 月在 ICC 秋季会议上， 与会各国国际商会国家委员会代表通过的《跟单信用证统一惯例》 (2007 年修订本， 国际商会第 600号出版物)， 其英文全称是 Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits， 2007 revision，I． C． C． Publication No． 600(简称“UCP600” )， 已于 2007 年 7 月 1 日起正式生效。 1. 1. 2The Role of International Trade Documentation 外贸单证的作用 For different departments (customs, banks, exporter, insurance company, government, etc.), international trade documents have different roles. However, there is one same point, international trade documents provide proof of ownership of goods at any time and place throughout the transction and are very important to all the departments. 1. 2 The Main Kinds of International Trade Documentation 单证的主要类型 1) Transaction Documents 交易单证是买卖双方缮制的， 构成了在特定条款和条件下卖或买特定商品所达成的协议的基础。 交易单证包括询盘函、 报盘函、 递盘\报盘、 意向书、 购货订单、 销售合同、 形式发票和商业发票。 但是不是所有的交易都需要上述全部的交易单证。 2) Transport Documents 运输单证是作为货物运输到目的地的收据和合同（receipt and contract）， 由物流部门开具。 这些物流部门也开具保险和检验证书。 所有涉及货物运输的国际贸易都要求某种格式的提单（some form of bill of lading ）。 3) Import Documents
