    A Sex Revolution in Current China Sui-ming Pan, PhD INTRODUCTION This article describes the eight aspects of the sex revolution in mainland China today and its background, reasons, and prospects. It is based on about 30 data sources and a systems model of biopsy- chosocial determinants of sexuality in five interrelated categories: gender, reproduction, marriage, love, and life. Two main sources of the revolution are the changes in population structure and in social control. Its future is M o w n . "Sexuality" is a system. It consists of at least three subsys- tems: the bio, psycho, and sociosexual being. Biosexual signifies the particular structures and functions of the human body and the processes of their actions. Psychosexual signifies the person's feeling, perception, and cognition of his or her sexual being. Sociosexual signifies the expression of biosexual and psycho- sexual within a given sociocultural circumstance. sexuality com- prises at least five direct interrelated components: gender, repro- duction, marriage, love, and life. As an example of sociological research in sexuality, this article reviews sexuality in current China, especially the changes that are taking place. The numeri- cal data are from studies that show what has already happened in Chinese cities. With one exception, these data are from my own five independent social surveys and one observation from 1985 to 1991.
